SUCCESS! SHARE DRIVERS TALK LIVE AND DIRECT Q&A WITH ASST. COMMISSIONER HARDY OF THE ATO

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

VERIFIED BY ADAM JOHNSON OF THE ATO: ITS LEGITIMATE!

We organised. We asked to have our concerns heard. We asked for a seat at the table. Now the ATO has committed to a live forum discussion hour here http://uberpeople.net/threads/ato-live-chat-%E2%80%93-q-a-ride-sourcing-and-tax.28951/ at 6:30pm AEDT next Wednesday July 29th.

SDA have been putting questions to the ATO on behalf of share drivers to try to clarfy how the GST ruling effects share drivers come August 1. You may have read our article "Share Drivers and the GST". This article grapples with the seemily unfair ways the GST affects us. It does need some clarification, which will be forthcoming shortly but the results speak for themselves. Now we are talking directly to an Assistant Commissioner straight from the heart of the ATO.

BAM.

We are networking with professional accountants right now to help lend weight to our arguments and to give us a deeper understanding of how the GST will impact share drivers. We aim to deliver simple and straight forward explanations and examples so that newcomers to record keeping, BAS requirements and other types of tax compliance can understand their predicament.

I was personally contacted by the ATO about the upcoming forum. OK, OK, chest beating aside, this is what can happen when we group together in our shared interests. We can all give ourselves a pat on the back. But this is just the beginning. We need to get our questions into the forum as of right now, so if there is anything you'd like clarified and any point you might like to make to Asst. Commissioner Hardy now if ever is the time to get involved in the conversation!

To participate in the conversation you will need to sign up to the uberpeople.net forum if you have not already done so.

SDA asks that if you participate in the forum you keep it respectful and try to keep the questions as well informed as you possibly can. In light of that I shall post below a series of reference links to the ATO website so that you can investigate the regulations yourself.
